WEEKLY UPDATE
10/31/09
I received a call from Ron Sutton in Sacramento, CA telling me that I had impressed the judges and Ron when I was in CA earlier in the month that he was Proud to Announce that I had won the K & N Sponsorship for the 2010 RSWC Driver Development Program. I was so excited between myself, Brittlyn and my mom we call/texted everyone we knew to let them know the great news I had just received.
10/14/09
I received an e-mail and a call from Ron Sutton letting me know that I had won one of the six spots in the RSWC Program. Ron said they had one more round of applicants to test on the track and that they would make a decision around the 26th of the month on who the winner of the
K & N Filter Sponsorship would be and that I had a very good chance at winning this.
10/3/2009 and 10/4/2009
My family and I spent all day Saturday, Oct. 3rd in classroom orientation. This was very informational.
Sunday, Oct. 4th, I had five 20-lap sessions on the Stockston 99 Speedway. At the end of each session, I had an 8-point communication sheet I had to go over with my crew.
My laps were very smooth and consistent. Overall, I feel I did very well. I met a lot of new people, and even hit up the go-cart track.
I will find out if I made the program on or before October 28th.
9/27/09
We raced our Feature Cavalcade Race. I started 11th. I made it up to the 6th position, I passed for 5th, and the caution came out.
At the restart, I passed again for 5th as the 5th place guy went up high. I passed him on the bottom and he came down on me, sending me into the wall after cutting down my tire. I sustained too much damage to be able to finish the race.
We are off to California next weekend for the Ron Sutton Winner Circle Shoot-out.
9/26/09
Saturday at Sandusky Speedway Cavalcade. I qualified 5th. In the heat race, I was passing for 2nd with 3 laps to go, and the 2nd place guy came down on me and ripped off the back bumper. I had to go to the pits for my crew to remove the bumper completely. I was able to make it up to 6th.
9/12/09
Championship Night at Sandusky Speedway. I qualified 6th. Finished 3rd in the heat race.
Started 6th in the Feature, at the start dropped back to 9th, and in 3 laps was up to 2nd. I was all over Dobbins, but just couldn't clear a clean pass.
The red flag was thrown for Steve Jones, who blew his motor. After the track was clean, we went green with 2 laps to go. I tried to get Dobbins, but I just couldn't make a move.
Dobbins won, I finished 2nd, with Kenny Phillips 3rd, Andy Carroll 4th, and Ali Kern 5th.
Kenny Phillips held his Championship. I was able to hold on to 4th in overall season points.
I plan on running the Cavalcade Race on September 26th and 27th at Sandusky Speedway.
Before the season is over, I plan on running some other tracks. I will keep you posted on where I will be running and how I did.
I would like to take this time to thank everyone for a great season, and I hope to see you at the track soon. Thanks again to my fans, family, and friends for all your support.
9/6/09
Second day at Angola Speedway. Again qualified 10th. We did not run a heat race due to car countlap scuff session.
I started on the pole for the feature. After one lap in and leading, they threw the caution due to rain and had us all go back to the pits. After a 2-hour rain delay, we began racing again. Sprint cars went out first, and , we only ran a 6-Modifieds followed.
I ran in the top 3 for a few laps, then the car started to loosen up on me, and I ended up finishing 11th.
I didn't have my best run at Angola, but I had a great time and a wonderful experience.
9/5/09
Raced Angola Speedway. Qualified 10th. Finished 4th in the heat race. Started on the pole in the feature, lead the first 11 laps before the car started to get tight. Finished 7th.
8/29/09
Raced Sandusky Speedway. We struggled with the car all day long. Qualified poorly, 18.898, ran the heat race and tried to break out of my time with no luck.
Started on the pole for the feature, and, of course, with 10 laps in I broke out of my time and had to go to the tail. I was able to make my way up to 9th position. Just wasn't my weekend.
During Intermission we had a shopping cart race. My partner was Kenny Phillips. We had to wear our helmets backwards and push our partner to the orange cone while they were in the shopping cart giving directions. Once at the cone, we had to switch positions. We crossed the finish line in 2nd place. We had a good time, and a lot of laughs.
8/22/09
Raced Sandusky Speedway. There were 15 Modifieds signed in.
I qualified 7th, and finished 2nd in the heat race. I started 5th in the feature. We had a few cautions throughout the race. My bumper had gotten hit a few times and had come loose from the left rear, but it was still holding on the right side of the car.
I finished in 3rd position. As I crossed the start/finish line, my bumper had swung out to the right. Good thing this happened after the race or I would have been black flagged. It ended up being a good night of racing.
I will return to Sandusky on Saturday, August 29th, then to Winchester Speedway in Indiana for the Labor Day Weekend.
